The vision of the Central Valley Book Bank (CVBB) is that every child in the Central Valley will have access to an adequate supply of age appropriate books to help them become proficient readers. As a project of United Way of Fresno County, CVBB provides free and low cost children’s books to schools and nonprofit organizations servicing low income and disadvantaged populations. Our mission is to act as a resource for all types of programs in their efforts to develop a desire to read and improve reading skills while enhancing classroom and home libraries.

Bank Deposits (How You Can Help)

There are a number of ways to provide assistance, including:

• Donate books (Pre-K through 12).
• Conduct a book drive.
• Volunteer to help sort, repair and distribute books.
• Donate money and supplies or participate in our Bucks for Books program.
• Become a Book Bank Patron

Bank Withdrawals (Applying For Books)

Books may be withdrawn by teachers from schools servicing children in low income neighborhoods or nonprofit organizations servicing economically or socially disadvantaged youth. Applying for books is easy:

• Open an account at the bank
• Complete an application for a withdrawal

Bank Statements (Summary of Current Activities)

Our bank statements provide information about:

• Current book drive locations and other places to donate books.
• Organizations who have received our free children’s books.
• Sources of low cost or free children’s books.
